USING PMIS FOR RFIs
Nearly all contractors (83%) use a PMIS to process RFIs on
over half of their projects. Over two thirds of owners (68%)
use it that frequently for RFIs as well, suggesting that this is
also a common practice.
SATISFACTION
Contractors are also widely satisfied with using a PMIS
for this purpose, with 74% reporting satisfaction and no
contractors unsatisfied. Owners are, for the most part,
equally enthusiastic.
IMPACT OF DOUBLE ENTRY FOR RFIs
However, when contractors are forced to use an owner's
PMIS for processing RFIs, the productivity of workers
involved in duplicate data entry is still a high concern. Over
half also report medium or higher levels of impact on the
speed of decision-making, the speed of information workflow
and cycle times, delays to the project schedule and the
frequency of data entry errors.
PMIS IS NET POSITIVE
For both submittals and RFIs, the combination of the
relatively high degree of satisfaction and the notable impacts
reported suggest that contractors have come to accept these
impacts, probably because the process is still far better than
a manual one without a PMIS.
