The top risk reported by contractors is an increase in general conditions cost, which was selected among the top three risks by 59%. In addition, one third or more also find that they face the risk of having a lack of proper documentation in the event of a claim, lack of project performance information and lack of project performance reports. All of these can ultimately prove costly for contractors, and impact their ability to manage their work. OWNERS' VIEW ON CONTRACTOR RISK Strikingly, almost half (42%) of owners who require contractors to use their PMIS believe that contractors do not face any increased risk at all. Those that do recognize the risks faced by contractors significantly underestimate the impact compared with the contractor responses. This disconnect is not surprising, given how common it is for contractors to use an owner's PMIS, but increased risks typically impact overall project cost and can lead to other issues with schedule and quality. .
