CONNECTEDNESS
CURRENT SATISFACTION WITH
DATA CONNECTEDNESS
Owners and contractors were asked to rate the level of satisfaction
they have with data connectedness on a five-point scale from very
unsatisfied to very satisfied. Data connectedness was explicitly defined
as how well project data comes into and moves between solutions and
parties.
Owners have stronger opinions about data connectedness than
contractors, with a higher percentage who are satisfied (45% versus
38% of contractors) and unsatisfied (24% versus 15%). On the other
hand, the highest percentage of contractors (47%) fall in the neutral
category. Owners may have stronger insights into data sharing across
the entire project team and may be more directly affected by it across
all the project stages than the contractors, which may explain their
stronger reactions.
That said, 31% of owners are still neutral on this subject. These results
most likely represent the rapid amount of change currently occurring
in the construction industry when it comes to data connectedness. Few
may be unsatisfied because new tools have allowed them to experience
improvements in this area. However, many may also see that there
is more that can be done, and do not regard themselves as entirely
satisfied either. This finding suggests an expectation of continued
improvement in the data connectedness of the project team.
