Value of a Single Platform
VALUE OF HAVING ENTIRE TEAM ON A
SINGLE SOFTWARE PLATFORM
Throughout the study, owners and contractors alike identify the importance
of having a single software platform for the entire project team as a means of
improving the progress and payment process. To fully determine the degree
to which they see value in having this capability, owners and contractors who
said that they were neutral or unsatisfied with their current progress and
payment process were asked directly how much value would be added by
having the entire team on a single platform in order to provide a seamless
connection of the data and workflow for the whole process.
As the chart at right shows, the majority of both owners (70%) and contractors
(79%) see at least a medium
level of value in having this seamless connection.

[I think [the top benefit of our (PMIS)] is it allows us to stay focused on
the stuff that's important, versus trying to address issues, constantly
tracking things down, not knowing where things are. One nice thing about
[our PMIS] is that you can always see where things are in the process
workflow. That builds in some transparency, and we've tried to take that into
account on our side, to report on it regularly, to make sure that we're doing
our jobs too, not just that the contractor's doing theirs.
