CONTRACTORS' RESPONSE TO
BEING REQUIRED TO USE THE
OWNERS' PMIS SYSTEM
How Contractors Respond to Requirement to Use Owners' PMIS
Reported on more than 50% of projects by owners and contractors
Only 16% of contractors who have had the requirement
to use an owner's PMIS system report that the owner's
PMIS is frequently the same as theirs. Even fewer
(14%) state that they can integrate their system and the
owner's system on more than half of projects.
CONTRACTORS' RESPONSE
Therefore, contractors are forced to take other
approaches.
■
42% say that they use both their own system and
the owner's PMIS and do double entry on more than
half of projects.
■
34% use the owner's PMIS and do not use their
own on more than half of projects.
Both of these responses call into question their ability to
benefit fully from their investment in a PMIS.
OWNERS' PERSPECTIVE
The owners recognize how frequently contractors have
to do double entry and that it is rare for integration
to occur between the two systems. Importantly,
both owners and contractors note that it is rare for
contractors to refuse to use the owner's PMIS.
