CASE STUDY "We're capturing more information, moving it with more speed and using it to work smarter and more collaboratively" • ONE Platform replaces reliance on accounting system for managing operations • Capturing more data, moving it with more speed, and working smarter • B2W answers tomorrow's challenges CASELLA CONSTRUCTION UNIFIED ONE PLATFORM DRIVING EFFICIENCY, INSIGHT AND COLLABORATION Better efficiency, data and communication are the keys to continued profitability in heavy construction, according to John Casella. The co-owner and vice president of Casella Construction says these were also driving factors behind implementing the full B2W ONE Platform to manage estimating and operations. Casella and his cousin, Joe, bought the family business in 2017 from their parents, brothers John and Doug Casella, who founded it in 1987. More than 175 employees now complete a broad scope of work throughout New England and New York. The new owners have their sights set on future success and feel modern, connected software solutions are an essential ingredient. Before adopting the B2W platform, the company relied on a mix of spreadsheets and paper-based systems that John Casella describes as 'everything but specialized software'. "Without a backbone operational software, we relied on our accounting system to drive a lot of our operational processes, including job costing," he explains. "Those systems couldn't really give us the specialized, field-centric functionality to manage estimating and operations in the most effective manner possible." Individual B2W solutions provide advantages for estimating, scheduling, field tracking and analysis and equipment maintenance at Casella Construction. The potential to integrate all areas of the business and flow information across divisions, however, was the big differentiator for B2W. "The ONE platform addresses our biggest challenges: getting more efficiency out of our organizational efforts, gaining better insight into the work we do, and improving communication across our management, engineering, field and maintenance workflows," explains Casella. "We're capturing more information, moving it with more speed and using it to work smarter and more collaboratively."
